Chessington Community Matters has adopted Chessington South Station

Breaking news:  Chessington Community Matters has adopted the station of Chessington South, situated in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.

The group are supported by local theme park Chessington World of Adventures, the Chessington schools that neighbour the station (Chessington School, Ellingham School and St. Philips), and the University of Kingston.Volunteers will be undertaking a number of projects at the station, including:

  • Using the Kingston University Arts and Chessington World of Adventure (WOA) creative team in to provide ideas & designs for the decoration of the station (local themes, animal silhouettes etc.) in a phased approach;
  • The WOA facilities team (and local volunteers) to assist with general painting and tidy up of station area;
  • Use relationships with local signage contractors to produce community-based signage (e.g. Chessington School, WOA, Chessington Garden Centre etc.).
  • Tidy and paint the existing two rooms on the station platform to develop into a micro-library and locked storage for community use.
